Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What does 'night-time shutoff' or 'light sensor' mean?

Most cuckoo clocks (either mechanical or battery powered) come with 'night-time shutoff' in either a manual or 'light sensor' variety. This just means that both varieties enable you to control when the clock makes sounds.

Mechanical cuckoo clocks have a manual 'night-time shutoff' which are usually a lever with 2 positions - sound on or sound off.

Battery powered cuckoo clocks usually come with an automatic 'night-time shutoff' otherwise known as a light sensor which detects light levels and disables sound when the lights are off or it is very dark. While some include volume levels as well as sound on/off positions, some models also include an option to stop the sound between the hours of 9:00pm and 8:00am.

'CucuMeter' Cuckoo Clock (Brown Wood and Orange) by Progetti

Standing at 110cm (over 1 meter in height) the 'CucuMeter' Cuckoo Clock is a likely the tallest cuckoo clock in our range. A perfect timepiece for your child's bedroom to not just count the hours but to measure a growing young girl or boy.

Progetti offers this modern cuckoo clock in wood with oak wood and white color combination. It presents a ruler-like design with measurement strips and a roof-shaped top, where the clock hands in white and the little cuckoo sits. Watch your child's growth inch by inch and see how time flies with this designed by Alberto Basaglia & Natalia Rota Nodari.

The battery powered movement has a photosensitive sensor that automatically turns off the cuckoo sound in the absence of light so no-one will ever be woken by the clock when the lights are off. It also has a switch to regulate the volume of the cuckoo sound or to switch it off completely.

All Progetti cuckoo clocks are fitted with an Engstler™ clock & cuckoo mechanism which is custom built by the Engstler cuckoo clock manufacturer in the Black Forest region, Germany. Their craftsmanship ensures your cuckoo clock works as wonderfully as the world-famous traditional cuckoo clocks of the Black Forest region.

MEET THE DESIGNER OF THE ''CUCUMETER” CUCKOO CLOCK BY PROGETTI: ALBERTO BASAGLIA & NATALIA ROTA NODARI

The pair of architects and designers Alberto Basaglia and Natalia Rota Nodari made their professional debut in 1997, founding the Associated Firm named after them.

With the first design project, the “ Antennati” collection for the company YDF, in 1999 they won first prize in the Young & Design competition, happily materialising their strong ability to understand the potential of the company with which they work, interpreting its traits in the product. Many collaborations are still ongoing, and even more projects have been developed. From environmental reclamation and renovation of industrial archaeology buildings, such as Blitz Bovisa, where they also developed the interior fittings, to the creation of display areas and environments, up to the adventure in the food sector with Caffè Bonomi, for which they designed an entire bar set with production costs equivalent to Far East costs, but this time “made in Italy”.

Worried about your order arriving on time? Nine out of ten of our orders arrive within the estimated delivery time or even earlier. However sometimes there can be factors (such as availability and delivery location) that can affect the delivery time and lengthen it by a few days or even a week or two for some more complex models. In such cases we will keep you informed of the delay and work with the the manufacturer and courier throughout the process to make it as simple as possible for you to rest assured knowing your clock is on track to you. Many of our clocks are held in stock with our suppliers but, depending on the model/brand, some are built-to-order by one of our many manufacturers in Italy, Germany, Japan or Switzerland. We appreciate your patience in such cases and we will inform you of the tracking details as soon as your order is shipped from the manufacturer or supplier.

At any time, if you have questions or concerns about the delivery time of your order (maybe because it's for a birthday, wedding or Christmas present) then let us know and we will do our best to fast-track the order with our manufacturers. Contact us here.
